Let R be a commutative ring having a nonzero identity and ϕ : L(R)⟶L(R) ∪ {∅} be a function, where L(R) is the lattice of all ideals of R. A proper ideal I of R is said to be a ϕ-pseudo 2-prime ideal if whenever ab ∈ I − ϕ(I) for some a, b ∈ R, then a2n ∈ In or b2n ∈ In for some (Formula presented.) In addition to giving various properties and examples related to ϕ-pseudo 2-prime ideals, the characterization of some important ring structures such as von Neumann regular rings is given in terms of our new concept.
