A finite difference scheme of hybrid type with an appropriate Shishkin mesh is suggested to solve the problem. We prove that the method is of almost second order convergent in the discrete maximum norm. Numerical results are presented, which illustrate the theoretical results. © 2021 Elsevier B.V.</dc:description><dc:publisher>Elsevier B.V.</dc:publisher><dc:date>2022</dc:date><dc:type>Article</dc:type><dc:identifier>https://rdlopen.rawdatalibrary.net/r/ebyu/12914</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cam.2021.113894</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>0377-0427</dc:identifier><dc:language>en</dc:language><dc:relation>Journal of Computational and Applied Mathematics</dc:relation><dc:rights>info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess</dc:rights><dc:type>info:eu-repo/semantics/article</dc:type><dc:identifier>https://ebyu-rdlopen.rawdatalibrary.net/tr/items/ebyu/12914</dc:identifier></oai_dc:dc></metadata></record></GetRecord></OAI-PMH>
