Cardiac toxic-\rity is well known. It has been reported that paclitaxel reduc-\res the total antioxidant capacity, increases lipid peroxidation\rand causes DNA damage in heart tissue. Our study suggests\rthat taxifolin, a powerful antioxidant, may be useful in pre-\rventing paclitaxel-related heart damage. The effect of taxi-\rfolin on paclitaxel-induced oxidative heart damage were not\rfound in literature. Aim of the study is to biochemically inves-\rtigate the effect of taxifolin on paclitaxel-induced oxidative\rheart damage in rats.\rMaterials and Methods: The animals were divided into a\rhealthy group (HG) treated with distilled water, paclitaxel\rtreated control (PAC) and paclitaxel + taxifolin (PAT) groups.\rResults: In the heart tissue of rats receiving paclitaxel, the\ramount of GSH was lower than taxifolin and the healthy\rgroups. The amount of MDA, TPI, CK-MB and 8OHdG was sig-\rnificantly higher than taxifolin and the healthy group.\rConclusion: Paclitaxel caused oxidative stress and changed\rthe oxidant-antioxidant balance in favor of oxidants, while\rTaxifolin changed the oxidant-antioxidant balance in favor of\rantioxidants and significantly prevented the 8OHdG increase.\rThis information suggests that taxifolin may be useful in pre-\rventing paclitaxel-associated oxidative heart damage.</dc:description><dc:date>2021</dc:date><dc:type>Article</dc:type><dc:identifier>https://rdlopen.rawdatalibrary.net/r/ebyu/18001</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>https://doi.org/10.5152/abcr.2021.20042</dc:identifier><dc:identifier>2687-4520</dc:identifier><dc:language>tr</dc:language><dc:relation>Archives of Basic and Clinical Research</dc:relation><dc:rights>info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess</dc:rights><dc:type>info:eu-repo/semantics/article</dc:type><dc:identifier>https://ebyu-rdlopen.rawdatalibrary.net/tr/items/ebyu/18001</dc:identifier></oai_dc:dc></metadata></record></GetRecord></OAI-PMH>
