Aircraft sequencing and passenger flow optimization: Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport; [Uçuş sıralaması ve yolcu akışı optimizasyonu: İstanbul Sabiha Gökçen havalimanı]

    Demirel, Soner

This study presents a model that combines aircraft sequencing and passenger transfer dynamics to analyze the transfer process in terms of delay and how air-to-air and air-to-train transfer passengers reach stations and gates. The model considers real-world factors such as distances inside the terminal, walking times depending on baggage and gender, and waiting times at bus/metro stations. The research includes identifying the flights with the highest number of transfer passengers and conducting the analysis by giving priority to the busiest five aircraft. Individual behaviors of passengers, such as baggage and walking times, are also included in the optimization framework. When the differences between the models are analyzed, passengers' early arrival times at transfer points vary 0-5 minutes. Although this is important, no statistical difference was found. The analysis shows that Model 3 (43%) is superior to the others. While Model 2 reached an average delay of 1,066 seconds, Model 3 produced a delay of 185 seconds. Model 1 and 3 have similar performance. The combination of aircraft sequencing and transfer dynamics is the original contribution of the model. In addition, by including passenger-specific factors and operational constraints in the model, it becomes possible to offer more realistic and practical solutions.

Technical evaluation of abscissa damage of Erzincan Değirmenliköy church; [Erzincan Değirmenliköy Kilisesi apsis hasarının teknik olarak araştırılması]

    Aslay, Semi Emrah; Okuyucu, Dilek

Erzincan is an Anatolian city that has experienced numbers of destructive earthquakes throughout its history. Erzincan Değirmenliköy Church is one of the rare historical buildings that survived these earthquakes. Although the main body of the building is completely standing; it is rumoured that the abscissa was destroyed during the 1939 Erzincan Earthquake. The authors of this article have carried out this study to examine the accuracy of this narration from a technical point of view. Technical information was collected about the church and a structural model was created by using macro modelling technique. Structural model was calibrated via operational modal analysis and the destroyed abscissa was speculated and added to the model. Dynamic analyses were performed by using earthquake records on the model with abscissa attachment. As a result of the research; it has been concluded that the church abscissa has been damaged over the connection zones with the whole body of the structure during the earthquake and then separated from the structure by the time passed.

Investigation of wind energy potential of different provinces found in Turkey and establishment of predictive model using support vector machine regression with the obtained results; [Türkiye’de bulunan farklı illerin rüzgâr enerjisi potansiyelinin incelenmesi ve sonuçların destek vektör makinesi regresyon ile tahminsel modelinin oluşturulması]

Daş, Mehmet; Balpetek, Nilay; Akpınar, Ebru Kavak; Akpınar, Sinan

In this study, wind energy potential of Sinop and Adıyaman provinces in different regions of Turkey were analyzed statistically, based on the hourly measured data by Directorate of State Meteorological Station in 2008-2017 years. During the statistical analysis, average wind speed, standard deviation of wind speed, maximum wind speed and wind power density were determined. The Weibull distribution function was used to the distribution of wind speed and determination of wind power intensity. For the power density values obtained as a result of the study, a predictive model was established with the support vector machine (SVM) regression. Polynomial kernel, normalized polynomial kernel, radial basis function (RBF) kernel and Pearson universal kernel VII (PUK) models were used in SVM regression. Mean absolute error (MAE), root mean square error (RMSE), relative absolute error (RAE), and root relative square error (RRSE) error analyzes were performed for SVM regression estimates. The best estimation of wind power density predictive models generated by 4 different kernel functions using SVM regression was shown to belong to the polynomial kernel.

DESIGN AND REALIZATION OF A PRECISE AND FLEXIBLE CONTROL CARD FOR A DENTAL PROSTHESIS BAKING FURNACE BY USING FPGA

Uzun, Suleyman; Canal, M. Rahmi; Topaloglu, Nurettin

In this study, a dental prosthesis baking furnace, which is used in baking of the dental prosthesis in the dental laboratories, has been explored in terms of the control unit design and application with FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array - FPGA). Governing of the furnace has been realized by an XC3S700A-4FG484A FPGA integrated circuit which was produced by Xilinx firm. During the design process of this electronic control card, VHDL (VHSIC Hardware Description Language - VHDL) program and algorithm, which are used fewer gates in developing the FPGA ICs and have high speed of hardware and low power consumption have been developed. In any dental prosthesis baking furnace, a good timing, linear and stabilized operation, sensitive temperature and pressure monitoring and flexible usage are of vital. With the proposed control card for first time, the FPGA which contains the above-mentioned features temperature and pressure values have been adjusted at a desired order and process of baking has been implemented on time, successfully. Thus, Prosthesis which baked in many precise operation parameters (i.e. temperature, pressure) during the process has been observed to be long-lived and endurable due to this control card and software.

DYNAMIC ANALYSIS OF VECTOR CONTROLLED PERMANENT MAGNET SYNCHRONOUS MOTOR DRIVEN WITH SPWM INVERTER

Bal, Gungor; Özgenel, M. Cihat; Demirbas, Sevki

In this paper, dynamic analysis of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) fed by sinusoidal PWM (SPWM) controlled voltage source inverter (VSI) was studied. Similar to separately excited DC motor, torque and exciting currents are controlled individually by applying vector control technique to the PMSM. Consequently, improving the motor performance is aimed in this study. Currents and speed are controlled with PI controllers. A digital signal processor card ADMC401 developed by Analog Devices was used for implementing vector control algorithm and producing switching signal for VSI. The PMSM was operated under several speed and load conditions. Test results obtained from experiments are presented and then the dynamics of the drive system are also analyzed.

A NEW INTELLIGENT FAULT CLASSIFICATION METHOD USING TIME SERIES DATA MINING AND SUPPORT VECTOR MACHINES

Aydin, Ilhan; Karaköse, Mehmet; Akin, Erhan

Induction motors are the most used machines in industrial applications. Although these motors are generally reliably, they can be exposed many faults due to environmental and wear reasons. In this study, broken rotor bar faults occurred in an induction motor are classified using support vector machines and time series data mining methods. Time series to be used for fault diagnosis is obtained by using two components of park's vector approach. The new time series which is obtained for each fault condition is transformed to a phase space. Support vector machines are used to separate healthy and faulty phase spaces. Fuzzy cluster centers are taken as training data to increase training speed of support vector machines. Healthy motor condition and one, two and three broken rotor bar faults are successfully classified at four different operation speeds with developing method.
