The principal aim of the paper is to produce innovative alloys for the purpose of investigating their structural properties, as well as their capacity for radiation protection. In this regard, novel CoxCrxNixFexAlxTixByMnyRz (R: Mo, Ta, W, Hf and Nb; x = 13, y = 5, z = 12) alloys were synthesized and mean free path, half value layer, effective atomic number, linear and mass attenuation coefficients, atomic and electronic cross sections, fast neutron removal cross section, buildup factors of the alloys were calculated by employing Phy-X/PSD software. Spectroscopic methods (SEM-EDS and XRD) were performed to get structural findings for the alloys. Attenuating effect of fast neutrons are also achieved to be similar as that of photon. The conclusion drawn from this study is that all of the produced alloys, especially CoxCrxNixFexAlxTixByMnyWz, can be considered suitable new shields for applications where high temperatures are experienced. It can be also stated that W improves the radiation protection properties. The study was conducted with the objective of fabricating new high entropy alloys to enhance radiation protection, and with the objective of generating extensive data on the radiation protective and structural properties of the alloys.

Içelli, Orhan; Erzeneoǧlu, Salih; Boncukçuoǧlu, Recep
The transmission of gamma-rays of some boron compounds (H3BO3, Na2B4O7) and the trommel sieve waste (TSW) have been measured by using an extremely narrow-collimated-beam transmission method in the energy range 15.74-40.93 keV. Molecular, atomic and electronic cross-sections and effective atomic numbers have been determinated on the basis of mixture rule and compared with the results obtained from theory.

Yalçin, P.
The measurements of the K X-ray intensity ratio I(Kα2/Kα1), I(Kβ1/Kα1) and I(Kβ/Kα) for elements V, Mn, Zn, Tc, Ru, Cd, Xe, Ba, Cs, Hg and Rn were experimentally determined both by photon excitation, in which 59.5 keV γ-rays from a 241Am and 123.6 keV γ-rays from a 60Co were used, and following the radioactive decay of 51Cr, 55Fe, 67Ga, 99Tc, 111In, 131I, 133Ba, 133Xe, 137Cs, 201Tl and 226Ra. K X-rays emitted by samples were counted by a Si(Li) detector with resolution 160 eV at 5.9 keV. Obtained values were compared with the theoretical values. It was observed that present values agree with the previous theoretical and other experimental results.
RDL Kalıcı Kaydıİncele - ArticleYalnız künye2004A new method for the determination of molecular scattering differential cross sections in some lanthanide compounds with energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence system
Içelli, Orhan; Erzeneoǧlu, Salih
A method for the measurement of molecular scattering differential cross sections of coherently and Compton scattered photons obtained by means of an energy dispersive systems was demonstrated. The determination of molecular scattering differential cross sections was based on the independent atomic model (IAM). The method relied on accurately known values of the source strength, solid angle and sample thickness. It was found that the molecular scattering differential cross section decreases with increasing scattering angle and reaches a flat region for angles greater than 110°.

Içelli, Orhan; Erzeneoglu, S.
Pressure effect on the Kβ/Kα intensity ratio of zinc was investigated using high-resolution Si(Li) detector at photon excitation energy of 59.5 keV. Intensity ratios of zinc were measured as functions of the pressure used for compressing the pellets. Experimental setup consisted of a 3.7 × 109 Bq (100 mCi)241 Am annular source, which emitted monoenergetic γ-rays. Experimental results were compared with various theoretical and experimental values.
