Uğurlu, Mine; Akkuş, Tuba; Demir, Lütfü
In this work, the fluorescence parameters (the fluorescence cross section (б), the fluorescence yield (ὡ), and vacancy transfer probability (ή)) of the fifth period elements, which have great potential to be developed as a technology, are investigated by taking advantage of interactions between atoms and radiation. For this process, the samples were excited via241Am source without magnetic field and in the external magnetic field. The radiation emitted from targets was collected by an Si(Li) detector and energy channels were located on a computer program by means of a multi-channel analyzer. The data on the computer program were analyzed for calculations. The discrepancies have been observed between the experimental results and the theoretical results calculated without magnetic field. It was determined that results changed with the magnetic field (B = 0.4 and 0.8 T) and the variation of the X-ray fluorescence (XRF) parameters with the magnetic field for diamagnetic Ag and Cd is lower than for paramagnetic elements.

Akkuş, Tuba
The coherent to Compton scattering ratio is a useful technique because it is independent of the density of the material and the material is defined only by the atomic number. Also, this ratio is used where changes in the atomic number are important and changes in the attenuation coefficient are too small to detect. In this study, coherent to Compton scattering ratios of cadmium have been calculated at different scattering angles (90°, 95°, 100°, 105°, 110°, 115°, 120°, 125°, and 130°). A high purity germanium detector was used. The coherent to Compton scattering differential cross-section ratios were plotted as a function of the scattering angles and constituted a best fit curve. It was observed that the coherent to Compton differential cross-section ratios decrease with an increasing scattering angle. The experimental results agree well with the results of the non-relativistic and relativistic form factor method.
RDL Kalıcı Kaydıİncele - ArticleYalnız künye2017The K-beta/K-alpha intensity ratios of some elements at different azimuthal scattering angles at 59.54 keV
Akkuş, Tuba; Şahin, Yusuf; Yllmaz, Demet; Tuzluca, Fatma Nur
In this study K-beta/K-alpha (Kβ/Kα) intensity ratios of the elements scandium (Sc), vanadium (V), chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), bromine (Br), yttrium (Y), zirconium (Zr), and niobium (Nb) have been measured at three azimuthal scattering angles (+30°, 0°, and -30°) for two fixed polar scattering angles (85° and 135°). The elements were excited by 59.54 keV gamma photons emitted from 100 mCi Am241 point source. The obtained experimental values were compared with the theoretical values presented in the literature. It is observed that Kβ/Kα intensity ratios of the investigated elements do not depend on azimuthal angles at fixed polar angles.
