Coexistence of eccrine porocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma of the ear, and synchronous basal cell carcinoma of the face

    Balci, Mecdi G.; Tayfur, Mahir

Eccrine porocarcinoma is an unusual malignant cutaneous tumor arising from the intraepidermal portion of eccrine sweat glands. It is commonly found in elderly persons and frequently occurs on the lower extremities. It is an aggressive and potentially fatal form of sweat gland carcinoma, due to its propensity to metastasize through lymph vessels. Basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma are the most common type of skin cancers. There was a combined tumor including eccrine porocarcinoma and squamouus cell carcinoma on left ear and synchronous basal cell carcinoma on face left side. We are presenting a very rare case that there was no in the literature. (Cite this article as: Balci MG, Tayfur M. Incidental gallbladder cancer in cholecystectomy materials

    Balci, Mecdi G.; Tayfur, Mahir

BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to analyze the incidence of incidental gallbladder cancer in cholecystectomy material and retrospective analysis of 3519 cholecystectomy cases in the pathology department in our hospital between 2001-2017 years. incidental gallbladder cancer is defined as cancer of the gallbladder suspected for the first time during cholecystectomy or accidentally found on histological examination of gallbladder. incidental gallbladder cancer occurs in 0.19-2.8% of patients after cholecystectomy in the literature. METHODS: in our study, retrospective analysis of 3519 cholecystectomy cases was investigated between 2001-2017 years. The patients were classified according to age and gender. RESULTS: Thirty-six gallbladder cancers were encountered in 3519 cholecystectomy cases. 21 of them were mass lesions that clinical and radiologically with malignant suspicion. There were 15 cases of incidental adenocarcinomas diagnosed histopathologically, which were sent to the pathology laboratory with a preliminary diagnosis of cholelithiasis or cholecystitis, which did not constitute a distinct mass in the lumen and did not suspicion of malignancy clinically. CONCLUSIONS: It was emphasized that careful macroscopic and histopathological examination of cholecystectomy materials and multiple sampling from irregular mucosal parts in the pathology laboratory will increase the diagnostic efficiency of incidental gallbladder cancer.

The coexistence of congenital angiokeratoma circumscriptum and actinomycosis in the tongue

    Balci, Mecdi G.; Tayfur, Mahir

Angiokeratomas are vascular lesion that they were consisted of subepidermal located dilated blood vessels and epidermal proliferative reaction. Angiokeratoma circumscriptum was rare in the tongue. Actinomycosis infections of the cervicofacial region are not uncommon but actinomycosis of the tongue is rare. We do not find a case of the coexistence of angiokeratoma circumscriptum and actinomycosises in the literature reported. Our study was presented for this rare condition in a Turkish male.

Tayfur, Mahir; Balci, Mecdi G.; Ceylan, Nehir; Deger, Ayse N.; Eken, Huseyin

Meckel's diverticulum is a rare small intestinal anomaly. it is located on the antimesenteric border of the small intestine. it is a remnant that occurs as a result of patent vitelline duct (i.e., omphalomesenteric duct). it is usually located at 45-60 cm proximal to the ileocecal valve. We report a patient with double Meckel's diverticulum located at 80 cm and 100 cm proximal to the ileocecal valve. We did not ind any case of these localizations in the literature reported.
