RDL Kalıcı Kaydıİncele - ArticleYalnız künye2022From "Stadyom" to Arena: Transformation of Stadiums in Turkey
İnal, Rahşan
Stadiums are more than buildings that host sporting events. They are places where national identities are produced and reproduced for political powers. They are places where power relations in national/international sports organizations, collective memory of the city and, in particular, that of football fans, exist. Both sports and products other than sports are offered to the capitalist market in stadiums. After the 1980s, the transformation in the stadiums is remarkable with the high security, technologically equipped, panopticon designs in which the audience is classified according to their class position. These “new generation”, “postmodern” or “gentrified” stadiums were also built in Turkey after the 2000s. In this study, the transformation of stadiums in form and content from the day they were built to the present day is evaluated with its economic, political, social, and cultural outlines and results.

Sanli, Aysem Sezer; Garipoğlu, Funda Kemahlı
This study focuses on the importance of R.W Connell's "masculinities theory" in which she\rproblematizes different types of masculinity and the concept of "hegemonic masculinity", which she\rconsiders as the most dominant type in this theory, in explaining the reproduction process.\rThe concept of hegemony, which Antonio Gramsci uses to explain the establishment of power\rrelations between classes based on consent rather than coercion, is decisive in Connell's works. In this\rstudy, which is designed as a theoretical research, it is discussed that Connell's explanation of the\rreproduction process with the concept of "hegemonic masculinity" by focusing on Gramsci's concept\rof "hegemony" and problematizing the practices of femininity and masculinity in the social order\rbased on gender discrimination.\rIn this context, Connell's concept of hegemonic masculinity is both a hierarchy between\rmasculinities, as a concept that deals with both the social organization of the gender order, It provides\ran important framework to comprehend how unequal social relations are reproduced and to consider\rthe possibility of establishing an egalitarian social structure by reversing the direction of hegemony in\rthis reproduction process.
