In today's world where environmental and economic effects of dam construction and lakes are debated, it's not a rational approach to benefit from dams for only electricity production. In this context, it will be convenient to plan various alternative economical activities in dam lakes such as fishing and touristic activities. In the study, Borcka Dam Lake was handled with this point of view; possible investments around Dam Lake were mentioned with aim of maximizing economical benefit. For this purpose, initially related literature was scanned in order to obtain documentary data. In addition, field observation tours were performed in certain periods starting from 2013. In those tours, company owners related with Dam Lake were interviewed and first-hand information was obtained. In Borcka Dam Lake, starting from 2010, culture or cage fishery activity is conducted. This situation is an important development in terms of benefiting from Dam Lake but attention should be paid for the desired production level to be reached by removing the sector related problems and for development of touristic and recreational use. In this context, performance of water sports such as kayak, rowing, water bicycle and sailing, arrangement of boat or raft trips, creation of observation and recreational areas (picnic area, walking track, etc.) can be considered.

It is known that some human factors, physical geographic conditions as well as the land forms and climate, have also important effect on the selection of location of settlement and economic. Transportation, which is one of the important elements of geographic view, is the leading one. Transportation activities are perceptibly effective on both natural environment and human environment. This change is especially more explicit in land transportation systems. Many settlements are really developed or underdeveloped based on transportation in different aspects, from their location to land use. One of these settlements is Yenicubuk Town, on the location of which transportation is effective. Yenicubuk Town is a town of Gemerek dictrict, Sivas. The settling of migrant families, who came from Balkan states by the population exchange in 1936, has played a major role in the settlement of the town, which is located in Sivas-Kayseri highway and railway line. It has become one of the important settlements around since that date, especially with the effects of the developments in railroads. Hence, municipal organization was established in the town in 1957, the population which continuously increased by those who came from the villages around and from the eastern parts of the country. A construction plan was prepared in 1968 for the planned and orderly development of the settlement and the settlement was maintained in accordance with that plan. In this study, it is tried to point out the settlement, development, and functional properties of Yenicubuk town, where transportation lines are effective on the selection of location. Within this framework, it is put emphasize on the changes which transportation systems cause in the plan and texture of the settlement.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a data processing system which accepts all objects on the earth as geographic data, and shows these over a numeric platform with its unique methods. GIS has developed rapidly in recent years in parallel with information technologies. Then many institutions especially related with organizing and planning the environments, municipalities, armed forces, tourism agencies, and educators are in an effort to benefit from this data processing system in the highest level. Some companies having the authority in information technologies share their products with their customers via GIS. These products' enriched contents help users explore different places of the earth and new opportunities. In today's world, it is easy to reach many free and paid services from motionless views, navigation, traffic jam, to hotel reservation in the virtual environment (web). But the use of information technologies creates some problems in parallel with its benefits. The leading problem of them is how to use these technologies with the lowest price and the most effective way. In this study, web-based GIS programmes which have developed rapidly especially in the last decade, their performances and qualifications were investigated. In this context, four main web-based map systems' (Google Maps, BingMaps, Yahoo! Maps, OviMaps) online GIS services were examined with some tests in terms of speed, security, reliability, accessibility, and extensibility

In this study, it is aimed to examine logistic village applications and projects in Turkey, and then a new proposal to construct a logistic village in Trabzon is requested. In this context, by making a literature review on logistic villages which are organized and in the process of project Trabzon city's position in the national and international transportation system was determined in the light of the results obtained via our own observations, literature and statistical information. Our observations show that the issue of logistic village is relatively new in Turkey's agenda, and efforts on this issue are mainly limited to the studies of public sector and TCDD (Turkish State Railways). TCDD's being the only owner of 12 of 15 logistic villages which are in the process of instruction and operation clarifies this reality. In addition, a public institution's being the sole responsible agency on this matter is a significant problem. On the other hand, Trabzon proposed as being evaluated under the authority of logistic village application by us is the most important logistic centre of Eastern Black Sea Region. In a near future, its importance would be fortified with the completion of railway connection. However, logistic services are still performed in different places which lack of a concrete planning within city residential areas; this situation would bring a wide range of problems. Therefore, it would be helpful to construct a logistic village in Trabzon which considers the use of urban land, the current transportation services, the port and the railway line which will be constructed.

Bu araştırmada Türkiye’deki lojistik köy uygulamaları ve projeleri incelenmiş, Trabzon’da lojistik köy kurulması için yeni bir öneri geliştirilmiştir. Bu çerçevede işletilen ve proje aşamasında olan lojistik köylerle ilgili kaynaklar taranmış; kendi gözlemlerimiz, literatür ve ulaşım istatistiklerinden elde edilen bilgiler ışığında Trabzon şehrinin ulusal ve uluslararası taşımacılıktaki konumu belirlenmiştir. Tespitlerimize göre lojistik köy konusu Türkiye gündemine nispeten geç girmiş, bu alanda gösterilen çabalar büyük ölçüde kamu sektörüyle ve TCDD’nin çalışmalarıyla sınırlı kalmıştır. Nitekim proje, inşa veya işletme sürecinde olan 15 lojistik merkezden 12’si TCDD’ye aittir. Konunun sadece bir kamu kurumuna havale edilmiş olması önemli bir eksikliktir. Diğer yandan tarafımızdan lojistik köy uygulaması kapsamına alınması önerilen Trabzon, Doğu Karadeniz’in en önemli lojistik merkezidir. Yakın gelecekte demiryolu bağlantısının gerçekleşmesiyle birlikte bu konumu daha da güçlenecektir. Ancak hâlihazırda şehir yerleşim alanı içerisinde lojistik hizmetleri belirli bir plânlamadan yoksun farklı mekânlarda sürdürülmekte olup, bu durum çok çeşitli sorunları beraberinde getirmektedir. Bunun için Trabzon’da kentsel arazi kullanımını, mevcut ulaşım sistemini, limanı ve yeni inşa edilecek olan demiryolu hattını dikkate alan bir lojistik köyün kurulması yararlı olacaktır.
