Dinler tarihi perspektifiyle bir aydınlanma dönemi din bilimcisi olarak Thomas More ve ütopyası

Aydınlanma, insanı geleneklerinden, inançlarından kurtarıp evreni ve hayatı aklıyla açıklayarak mutlu ve özgür yaşamayı amaçlayan bir düşünce biçimidir. Aydınlanma Tanrı'yı hayatın dışına çıkarmış; din, mitoloji, metafizik ve hurafelerin yerine aklı koymuştur. Bu çalışmada bir Aydınlanma dönemi din bilimcisi olan Thomas More'un yaşamına, fikirlerine, etkilendiği şahsiyetlere, kaleme aldığı Ütopya adlı eserinin diğer yazarlara nasıl ışık tuttuğuna ve yaşadığı dönemin, eserlerine nasıl yansıdığına değinilmiştir. Ütopya kavramı ilk defa Thomas More'un Ütopya adlı eserinde kullanılmıştır. Kitap iki bölümden oluşmakta olup ilk bölümde İngiltere'de yaşanan sorunlara değinilmiş, ikinci bölümde ise bu sorunlara ütopik çözümler getirilmiştir. Aydınlanma öncesi ütopik eserlere değinilerek aynı zamanda Aydınlanma dönemi öncesinde, Aydınlanma döneminde ve Ütopya adlı eserdeki din olgusuna ayrıca değinilmiştir.

Enlightement, is a way of thinking, that aims to live happily and freely by rescuing humankind from its traditions, believes and explaining life with reason. Enlightenment has put God out of life; replaced religion, mythology, metaphysic and superstitions with reason. In this study, the life of Thomas More, an Enlightenment period theologian, his ideas, the personalities he was influenced by, how his work, called Utopia, shed light on other writers and how the period in which he lived is reflected in his works, are mentioned. The term Utopia was first named in Thomas More's work called Utopia. The book consists of two parts, in the first part problems in England are mentioned, in the second part utopic solutions to this problems are given. By referring to utopic works in the Pre-Englightenment period, the religious phenomenon of the Pre-Enlightenment period, Enlightenment period and in the work called Utopia was also mentioned.
