Objective: Based on the idea that there may be a link between smartphone addiction and adult separation anxiety disorder (ASAD), our aim was to examine the impacts of ASAD symptoms on nomophobia and whether they predict nomophobia among ASAD patients. Method: We randomly recruited 50 patients diagnosed with ASAD and 50 control subjects satisfying the inclusion criteria. We collected the data using a sociodemographic information form, the Adult Separation Anxiety Questionnaire (ASA-27), the Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMP-Q), the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI). Results: Fifty-four percent of the patients had moderate, and 46% showed mild nomophobia symptoms. The results revealed that, compared to healthy controls, the patients had significantly higher scores on the ASA-27, the BDI, the BAI, the NMP-Q (total), the NMP-Q not being able to access information, the NMP-Q giving up convenience, the NMP-Q not being able to communicate, and the NMP-Q losing connectedness (p=0.006 for the NMP-Q giving up convenience; p<0.001 for others). Moreover, the results yielded significant positive relationships between ASAD and the participants' nomophobia total and subscale scores (except for losing connectedness) (p<0.05). Finally, ASAD scores significantly predicted nomophobia, not being able to access information, giving up convenience, and not being able to communicate. Discussion: To the best of our knowledge, our study is the first to report nomophobia levels among patients diagnosed with ASAD. The increased severity of separation anxiety symptoms contributed to the severity of nomophobia in the patients, which, in turn, significantly boosted the severity of their depression and anxiety.

Objective: It is known that psychiatric diseases also affect the quality of life of patients' relatives. The aim of this study is to examine the level of resilience, depression and burnout of the caregivers of forensic psychiatry patients in order to recognize the mental problems that may be experienced by relatives of forensic psychiatry patients who have committed crimes in addition to psychiatric illness. Method: 90 high-security forensic psychiatry patient relatives were included in the study. Sociodemographic data form, Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Adult Resilience Scale (RSA) and Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) were admi-nistered to all participants. Results: BDI score of caregivers was 10.8 +/- 7.7, RSA-total 99.8 +/- 12.5, emotional burnout score from MBI subscales 22.5 +/- 3.4, depersonalization score 9.4 +/- 2.2, personal success score was determined as 16.8 +/- 5.4. There was a significant difference between the duration of caregiving in terms of BDI score (p<0.01). The BDI score of the caregivers of the patients with criminal liability was found to be significantly higher than the score of the caregivers of the patients without criminal liability (p< 0.01). Discussion: It was observed that the level of psychological resilience was good in people who took care of psychiatric patients who were subjected to forensic psychiatric examination, but they had mild depression and moderate burnout. It is seen that the relatives of the patients are affected psychologically and the necessary psychosocial support can be positive for the caregivers.

Objective: In hypertensive people, some biochemical parameters that are associated with oxidative stress and endothelial functions may play a role in the manifestation of anxiety symptoms, and even in the intensification of clinical symptoms of the disease. The purpose of our correlative study is to examine the association between anxiety severity and levels of oxidative stress parameters of Urotensin-II and S100B protein in patients with essential hypertension. Method: A total of 153 patients, who have applied Sociodemographic and Clinical Data Form, Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), Beck Depression Inventory and venous blood samples were taken after blood pressure measurement. S100B and Urotensin-II levels were measured with Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay method. Results: A positive correlation was determined between depression and anxiety scores, and systolic blood pressure (p=0.049, r= 0.160; p<0.01, r=0.292). There was a positive relation between BAI scores and Urotensin-II levels (p= 0.043, r= 0.164). A positive correlation was determined between Urotensin-II levels and S100B levels (p<0.01, r= 0.711). A statistically significant difference was observed in serum Urotensin-II levels between depression group and no depression group (p=0.017). Discussion: It was determined in our study that Urotensin-II level increased with increasing anxiety level in essential hypertension patients. It was also determined that Urotensin-II level was higher in hypertensive patients with depression compared to patients who don't have depression. Our study will shed light on new studies that will investigate the contribution of Urotensin- II and S100B in the etiology of patients diagnosed with essential hypertension, which is very commonly accompanied by anxiety and depressive symptoms.
