Simple Two-Sided Convergence Method for a Special Boundary Value Problem with Retarded Argument

Aykut, Arzu; Çelik, Ercan; Okumus, Israfil

This study utilizes approximation techniques to address a boundary value problem involving a differential equation with a delayed argument. The problem is approached through analytical techniques by transforming it firstly into an equivalent integral equation. Specifically, we derive a Fredholm-Volterra integral equation that encapsulates the delayed behavior inherent in the original differential equation. The Fredholm operator in this equation features a degenerate kernel, which enables simplification and facilitates the construction of successive approximations. To solve this integral equation, we employ the two-sided convergence method, a powerful iterative technique that generates two sequences of approximate solutions-lower and upper bounds-that converge monotonically toward the exact solution. This method is particularly well-suited for problems with delayed arguments, as it ensures both stability and convergence under appropriate conditions on the kernel functions. The main objective of the study is to demonstrate the applicability and accuracy of the Simple Two-Sided Convergence Method for this class of boundary value problems. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the theoretical results, and the obtained approximations are compared with the exact analytical solution. All computations were carried out using Maple, ensuring precise numerical evaluation.

Properties of Generalized Bronze Fibonacci Sequences and Their Hyperbolic Quaternions

Özkan, Engin; Akkus, Hakan; Özkan, Alkan

In this study, we establish some properties of Bronze Fibonacci and Bronze Lucas sequences. Then we find the relationships between the roots of the characteristic equation of these sequences with these sequences. What is interesting here is that even though the roots change, equality is still maintained. Also, we derive the special relations between the terms of these sequences. We give the important relations among these sequences, positive and negative index terms, with the sum of the squares of two consecutive terms being related to these sequences. In addition, we present the application of generalized Bronze Fibonacci sequences to hyperbolic quaternions. For these hyperbolic quaternions, we give the summation formulas, generating functions, etc. Moreover, we obtain the Binet formulas in two different ways. The first is in the known classical way and the second is with the help of the sequence's generating functions. In addition, we calculate the special identities of these hyperbolic quaternions. Furthermore, we examine the relationships between the hyperbolic Bronze Fibonacci and Bronze Lucas quaternions. Finally, the terms of the generalized Bronze Fibonacci sequences are associated with their hyperbolic quaternion values.

Generalization of the Distance Fibonacci Sequences

Yilmaz, Nur Seyma; Wloch, Andrej; Özkan, Engin

In this study, we introduced a generalization of distance Fibonacci sequences and investigate some of its basic properties. We then proposed a generalization of distance Fibonacci sequences for negative integers and investigated some basic properties. Additionally, we explored the construction of matrix generators for these sequences and offered a graphical representation to clarify their structure. Furthermore, we demonstrated how these generalizations can be applied to obtain the Padovan and Narayana sequences for specific parameter values.

    Higher-Order Jacobsthal–Lucas Quaternions

    Uysal, Mine; Özkan, Engin

In this work, we define higher-order Jacobsthal–Lucas quaternions with the help of higher-order Jacobsthal–Lucas numbers. We examine some identities of higher-order Jacobsthal–Lucas quaternions. We introduce their basic definitions and properties. We give Binet’s formula, Cassini’s identity, Catalan’s identity, d’Ocagne identity, generating functions, and exponential generating functions of the higher-order Jacobsthal–Lucas quaternions. We also give some relations between higher-order Jacobsthal and Jacobsthal–Lucas quaternions.
