Içelli, Orhan; Erzeneoǧlu, Salih
Ncoh/NComp and NKβ/ NKα intensity ratios of scattered photons by Zn in the linear region and the infinite mass thickness region are measured as functions of the pressure used for compressing the pellets with a Si(Li) detector using Am-241 and Fe-55 annular source. Besides, the effect on the experimental intensity ratio of relation between two different thicknesses of sample with applied different pressures on the sample is investigated in this study. Harmony between the linear and infinitive (critical) thickness region and the applied pressure on the sample has directly affected the experimental intensity ratios. Experimental results were not compared with various theoretical values in the literature, for present results constitute the first experimental measurements.
RDL Kalıcı Kaydıİncele - ArticleYalnız künye2006Practical method for experimental effective atomic number in the coherent to Compton scattering ratio
Içelli, Orhan
A practical method of calculating Zeff was developed for the coherent to Compton scattering ratio and the method is applicable for any material with known weight percentages of different elements in the compound. The coherent to Compton scattering ratio depends only on the mixture under study and provides a measurement of certain complicated functions of the atomic number Z and Zeff. In order to measure the effective atomic number of Sb2O3, BaO, La2O3, CeO2 and Nd2O3, the linear differential scattering coefficients of 59.5 keV γ-rays have been studied using a high-resolution Si(Li) semi-conductor detector. The coherent to Compton scattering ratio R is taken from the linear differential scattering coefficients μ(E, q). The results obtained have been compared with relativistic (RT) and non-relativistic (NRT) theoretical values.

Erzeneoǧlu, S.; Içelli, O.; Gürbulak, B.; Ateş, A.
The mass attenuation coefficients of InSe and InSe having different holmium concentrations were measured in the energy region 15.746-40.930 keV using a Si(Li) detector. InSe and InSe:holmium(0.0025), InSe:holmium(0.0050), InSe:holmium(0.025) and InSe:holmium(0.05) crystals were grown by the Bridgman-Stocbarger method. The measured values are compared with the theoretical ones obtained using WinXcom which is a Windows version of XCOM. The measurement of mass attenuation coefficients of ternary semiconductors is very important because of its use in technology.

I̧elli, Orhan; Erzeneoǧlu, Salih; Karahan, Ismail H.; Çankaya, Güven
Effective atomic numbers for CuCoNi alloys against changing Ni contents were measured in the X-ray energy range from 15.746 to 40.930 keV. The gamma rays emitted a 241Am point source have been send on absorbers to be used transmission arrangement. The X-rays were counted by a Si(Li) detector with a resolution of 160 eV at 5.9 keV. The compositions of the Ni films were determined to be 0.03, 0.47, 0.62, 1.23, 1.22 and 1.6 by a scanning electron microscopy in CuCoNi alloys prepared against changing Ni contents. CoCuNi alloy films were prepared with an electrodeposition technique. Also, the total effective atomic numbers of each alloy were estimated using mixture rule. The measured values were compared with estimated values for alloys.

IçelliI, Orhan; Erzeneoǧlu, Salih; Gürbulak, Bekir
Measurements have been made to determine the mass attenuation coefficients of undoped n-type InSe, and Gd, Ho, Er doped n-InSe single crystals using a Si(Li) detector in the energy region 15.746-40.930 keV X-ray energies with energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence systems. InSe, InSe:Gd, InSe:Ho and InSe:Er single crystals were grown by using the stockbarger method. The measured values are graphically compared with the theoretical ones obtained using WinXcom.
RDL Kalıcı Kaydıİncele - ArticleYalnız künye2004Elemental composition of cement Kiln dust, raw material and cement from a coal-fired cement factory using energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy
Polat, R.; Gürol, A.; Budak, G.; Karabulut, A.; Ertuǧrul, M.
Cement Kiln dust raw material, and cement samples collected from the coal-fired cement factory of Aşkale at Erzurum in Turkey were characterized with the standard addition method using energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence techniques. An annular 100 mCi 241 Am radioactive source emitting 59.5 keV photon and annular 50 MCi 55Fe radioactive source emitting 5.96 keV photon were used for excitation. Samples are prepared from powder sifted by a 300-mesh sieve. The characteristic K X-rays of the different elements were detected with a Si (Li) detector. The results are presented and discussed in this paper.
RDL Kalıcı Kaydıİncele - ArticleYalnız künye2004Measurement of the K X-ray absorption jump factors and jump ratios of Gd, Dy, Ho and Er by attenuation of a Compton peak
Budak, G.; Polat, R.
The X-ray absorption jump factor and jump ratio of Gd, Dy, Ho and Er were measured with a Si(Li) detector by attenuation, with Gd, Dy, Ho and Er foil, a Compton peak produced by the scattering of the 59.5 keV Am-241 Gamma rays. Al was chosen as secondary exciter. The experimental absorption jump factors and jump ratios are compared with the theoretical estimates of WinXcom (Radiat. Phys. Chem. 60 (2001) 23), McMaster (Compilation of X-ray cross sections UCRL-50174, 1969; Sec. II. Rev. I), Broll (X-ray Spectrom 15 (1986) 271), Hubbel and Seltzer (NISTIR (1995) 5632) and Budak (Radiat. Meas. accepted for publication). The present results constitute the first measurement for this combination of energy and elements, and good agreement is obtained between experiment and theory.

Içelli, Orhan; Erzeneoǧlu, Salih
Kβ/Kα intensity ratios of Zn were measured at a photon excitation energy of 59.5 keV using a high-resolution Si(Li) detector for several thickness at different pressure. Present results were compared with theoretical data and other experimental values. The results were in good agreement theoretical values based on Hartree-Fock theory.

Baştuǧ, Arif; Yalçin, Paşa; Demir, Lütfü; Şahin, Yusuf
Li (i=ι,α,β,γ) X-ray fluorescence (XRF) cross-sections have been measured for the elements Hg, Tl, Pb and Bi using photon energies of 16.90, 22.58, 25.77, 32.89, 38.18, 43.95, 50.21 and 59.54 keV. L X-rays fluorescence spectra were measured using a Si(Li) detector coupled to a computerized multi-channel analyser in a π/2 experimental geometry set-up. Experimental cross-sections have been compared with the theoretical values of L X-rays cross-sections and fairly good agreement is observed between the experimental and theoretical values.
