The aim of this study was to describe the perceptions of community care of Public Health Nursing graduate students. The research was conducted as a descriptive study. It was conducted with 64 volunteers who were Public Health Nursing graduate students. Data were collected online between September and November 2023 using the Personal Information Form and the “Community Care Perception Scale for Nursing Students”. Descriptive statistics were applied. Students' perception of community care is good, and the majority of them find community care interesting. The majority of students want to work in public health organizations (50%) and nursing homes (31.3%), while fewer prefer to work in rehabilitation centers (3.1%) and institutions for people with mental disabilities (4.7%). The greatest influence on their preference for community care work appears to be greater freedom of movement (46.9%). The least significant influence is the perception of a high-status job (3.1%). There is little interest in working in some areas of community care. Working in community care is not attractive in terms of career opportunities. It is important to make working in community care attractive in terms of career opportunities.

Glutamate (Glut) toxicity is one of the main causes of neurological diseases. Chlorzoxazone (CZ) is a muscle relaxant used to decrease pain and inflammation associated with acute and chronic twists and bruises. Here, we objected to research the neuroprotective effect of CZ applied to reverse Glut-induced neurodegeneration in the neonatal cerebral cortex through anti-inflammatory and antioxidant mechanisms. Neonatal cortical neurons were exposed to Glut and different doses of CZ (10, 20, and 40 µM) were applied to assess the effect of CZ on Glut toxicity. We then examined changes in cell viability, inflammation, and oxidative stress. Our cell viability analysis showed that CZ protected cells from Glut-induced neuronal damage. In addition, the neuroprotective properties of CZ were evaluated by examining oxidative and antioxidant parameters such as MDA, MPO, CAT, GSH, GPx, and SOD. In line with the data obtained, it was observed that the cell viability rate decreased to 60% in the Glut group. However, with CZ application, the most significant increase in cell viability was seen at the 40 μM dose (86%), while the least increase was seen at 10 μM CZ (77%). It also proved that CZ increased the activity of antioxidant parameters while reducing oxidative parameters and inflammation. Therefore, the present findings collectively demonstrated that CZ potently inhibits Glut-induced injury in neonatal cortical neurons. The present work is the initial to show the protective effect of CZ in neonatal cortical neurons exposed to Glut excitotoxicity and suggesting that CZ may be used as a therapeutic agent.

The research aimed to analyze the volatile compounds by using SPME-GC-MS and to detect anticholinesterase, antityrosinase, and antimicrobial potential of metanol extract of Alceacalvertii Boiss., an endemic species for Türkiye. The inhibitory effects of tyrosinase, acetylcholinesterase, and butyrylcholinesterase of the plant were determined by spectroscopic technique and the plant’s antimicrobial activity was assessed using the agar diffusion method. A total of 18 volatile compounds were specified belonging to terpenes classes. o-cymene (10.60%) and sesquicineole (15.55%) were detected as major volatile components of the species by the SPME-GC-MS technique. Meaningful antimicrobial activity was observed on Candida tropicalis, Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, Mycobacterium smegmatis, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) value of the plant was determined 60.12 ± 1.75 μg/mL as a result of tyrosinase assay. IC50 value was found 111.54 ± 1.75 μg/mL, according to butyrylcholinesterase inhibition studies. Considering all the findings, it has been determined that the plant includes diverse volatile compounds and showed promising antimicrobial, tyrosinase inhibitory, and moderate butyrylcholinesterase inhibitory effects so Alceacalvertii may be the up-and-coming source of natural medicine for microbial and dermatological diseases although limited to its effects for Alzheimer's disease.
