Çocuk kitaplarındaki mesleklerin görünümleri ve ortaokula devam eden öğrencilerin bu mesleklere ilişkin algıları

Çocuk kitaplarında karakterler aracılığıyla verilen mesleklerin ve ortaokul öğrencilerinin bu mesleklere ilişkin düşüncelerinin incelenip karşılaştırıldığı bu araştırma, doküman analizi deseniyle yapılmıştır. Çalışmada veri kaynağı olarak hedef kitlesi ortaokul dönemindeki çocuklar olan roman ve hikâye türlerindeki çocuk kitaplarından ve ortaokul öğrencilerinin mesleklerle ilgili düşüncelerinden yararlanılmıştır. Roman ve hikâye türlerinin çalışmada tercih edilmesinin nedeni bu türlerde çok sayıda kurgusal metne ve karaktere rastlanması, gerçek yaşama ve insanlara dair kesitler sunmasıdır. Çalışmada çocuk kitaplarında meslek sahibi olan karakterler cinsiyet, fiziksel görünüm, duygu ve davranış başlıkları altında incelenerek çocuk karakterler aracılığıyla verilen meslekler belirli kategoriler halinde gösterilmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra veri zenginliği oluşturmak açısından ortaokul öğrencilerinin mesleklerle ilgili düşünceleri ve mesleklerle ilgili yaptıkları resimler de tasnif edilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar ışığında çalışmada; mesleklerin sunumunda cinsiyet ve fiziksel görünüm açısından birtakım kalıplamalar yapıldığı, kitaplarda sunulan meslekler açısından değerlendirildiğinde öğretmenlik ve müdürlük mesleği haricinde daha çok olumlu duygu ve davranışların ön plana çıkarıldığı, çocuk karakterler aracılığıyla verilen mesleklerin ortaokul öğrencilerinin gelecekte yapmak istedikleri mesleklerden daha farklı olduğu ve öğrencilerin mesleklere ilişkin düşünceleriyle kitaplarda öne çıkan meslek görünümlerinin yer yer farklı olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

The research was carried out with the help of document analysis design in order to examine and compare the thoughts of the professions and secondary school students about these professions in the children's books. In this study, children's books in the genres of novels and stories, whose target group is children in secondary school, and the opinions of secondary school students about the occupations were used as data sources. The reason why novel and story genres are preferred in the study is that there are many fictional texts and characters in these genres, and the novel and story present real life and people cross-sections. In this study, the characters that have occupations in children's books are examined under the titles of gender, physical appearance, emotion and behavior and the occupations given through child characters are shown in certain categories. In addition, in order to create a wealth of data, secondary school students' thoughts about the occupations and pictures of the occupations were also classified. In the study, the opinions of the professions and secondary school students' thoughts about these professions were examined and compared in the children's books. In the presentation of the professions, some stereotypes were made in terms of gender and physical appearance, and when evaluated in terms of the professions presented in the books, more positive emotions and behaviors were brought to the forefront other than the profession of teacher and director, it was found that the professions given through child characters were different from the professions that secondary school students wanted to do in the future and that the opinions of the students regarding the professions and the prominent occupational views in the books were sometimes different.
