A research on the academic studies about Turkish language and literature teaching

The aim of this study is to reveal the general tendency of academic studies about Turkish Language and Literature teaching. In this study, the subject areas of the studies, their methods, universe and samples, and the obtained results and suggestions were analyzed. The study was done with screening model which is a descriptive research approach. The sample of the study consists of articles in 20 refereed journal of Turkey published in last 11 years (200-2010) and can be reached on internet. 34 of these articles related to the subject were analyzed in our study. In the result of the study, it was concluded that 23.5% of the analyzed articles were directly about Turkish Language and Literature teaching and education. it was found in 88.2% of the articles that the method was not indicated. No sample was chosen in 72.2% of them. In the related studies the most preferred universe sample group was preservice Turkish Language and Literature teachers. As a result of the study, it was found that the number of the studies about Turkish Language and Literature was not sufficient therefore, it was suggested to the researchers that they should do more studies to cope with the problems related to this area and fill the deficiency.
