KELABAZI'S HADITH MENTALITY AND HIS SUNNAH INTERPRETATİON

Kelābāẕī (d. 380/990), who grew up in Bukḥara shortly after the hadith imams of Kutub-i Sitte, is an important muhaddis and Sūfī scholar known for his views based on hadiths. With his interpretations from the Qur'an and hadiths, he examines the spiritual life style of religion called tasawwuf (İslamic mysticism). He collected his views in two important works called et-Ta ̔arruf and Me ̔āni’l-aḫbār. Both works shed light on the Islamic thought through hadiths based on the practices of the Prophet (pbuh). When the hadiths in Kelābāẕī's aforementioned works are examined, it is seen that he made a Sunnah interpretation. In this study, it will be emphasized how Kelābāẕī strives to interpret the hadith by taking into account the characteristic feature of the period he lived. The views connected with the hadiths will be analyzed with some examples.
