A Research on Corporate Risk Management Awareness of Companies in the Scope of BIST Corporate Governance Index

This study aims to reveal the enterprise risk management (ERM)awareness of the companies which are traded on BIST Corporate Governance Index, test the existence and the functionality of the practices and develop ERM profiles of the companies in general. For this purpose, a survey was conducted to the companies which are traded on BIST Corporate Governance Index. As a result of the study, it was detected that the level of enterprise risk managementawareness of the companies which participated in the study are quite high and enterprise risk management practices are carried out in an effective and functional way. However, it was determined that because of the factors such as cost of establishing an enterprise risk management system, lack of skilled staff, economic conditions and changes in government policies, companies experience difficulties in establishing enterprise risk management systems
