Metaphors are ways of expression that reflect our psychological perceptions on terms. To explain the humans’ lives, environment and the events and facts of their environment, metaphors are important tools in our mind. This study, which was done with the aim of determining with the help of metaphors, the school administrators’ thoughts about the counseling and guidance services at their schools, was designed in a qualitative research design. The study’s working field consists of 29 school administrators who work in the city center of Yozgat. The study data was obtained by semi-structured interview forms. According to the results, school administrators came up with 29 metaphors in total for psychological counseling and guidance services. The metaphors that have been created were first of all sorted out by positive and negative considering their reason for production and then grouped in themes. School administrators have come up with metaphors that contain 20 positive and 9 negative thoughts for school psychological counseling and guidance services. Considering the metaphors regarding psychological counseling and guidance services produced by school administrators it was found out that school administrators have positive thoughts regarding psychological counseling and guidance services. The metaphors produced by school administrators regarding psychological counseling and guidance services were evaluated the most in the context of the solution theme.

Okullarda geleceğimizi inşa edecek olan gençlerin kişisel, eğitsel ve mesleki gelişimlerine yön vermesi için sosyal bir ortam yaratan rehberlik ve psikolojik danışma servisine ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır. Rehberlik ve psikolojik danışma servisinin okullarda ki varlığı, öğrenciyi bir bütün olarak her yönüyle tanımaya çalışıp, kişisel gelişimlerini, öğrencilerin akademik başarısızlıklarını, aile içi problemleri, ergenlik döneminden kaynaklanan problemlerini, okula, öğretmenlerine, çevreye uyum sorunlarını ve gelecek kaygıları gibi sorunlarının çözümünde okullarda uzman bir kişi tarafından yürütülmesi büyük önem taşımaktadır. Metaforlar asıl olanı, ona yakın bir kavramla anlatmasıdır. Metaforlar bir olayın oluşumu ve bu olayın işleyişi hakkında düşüncelerimizi şekillendiren, yönlendirip kontrol eden zihinsel araçlardan biridir. Bu çalışmada M.E.B. de bulunan ortaöğretim öğrencilerinin okullarında bulunan rehberlik ve psikolojik danışma servislerinin işlev ve rollerini öğrencilerin gözüyle bakmak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın problem cümlesi "Rehberlik ve psikolojik danışma servisi........ benzemektedir/gibidir. Çünkü...." şeklinde belirlenmiştir
