Özet

Cartoons are an important media product for children's cognitive, emotional and physical development. It is stated that children have realized over time that the screen is not a "magic window". Research shows that children's distinction between fact and fiction is not at the end of a planned process, but at the end of a developmental process. The studies that reveal the effects of cartoons on children were noticed to be limited in the Especially the studies on scales proven in terms of validity and reliability were limited. To overcome this deficiency, the purpose of the research was to develop a scale aiming to determine the effects of cartoons on children. The study group of the research included 473 students studying in primary schools in Erzincan province. Item correlation analyses were performed to ensure item validity during the scale development process. Exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were performed to determine the construct validity of the scale. The Cronbach Alpha test was performed for reliability measurements, and it was proved that the reliability coefficients were sufficient for each factor of the scale and for the whole scale. As result of the research, it was concluded that the data obtained from the scale including 6 factors and 23 items were valid and reliable. The scale was expected to reveal valid and reliable results in similar population and sample groups. The scale was given the “Cartoon Impact Scale for Children”
