Özet

In this study, ranking first in vegetable production in terms of cultivation area; the tomato, which has an important place with a share of 50% in terms of vegetable exports, in order to be applicable in 2020, producer and consumer prices and marketing margins in Turkey were examined using data from 2019. In the study, it was selected as the time series between 2003- 2019 and the production-consumption, foreign trade, price fluctuations and marketing margin of tomatoes were considered, taking into account the important production amount and yield parameters. In the study, real prices (2019= 100) were primarily calculated based on the current prices of tomatoes. In the second phase, marketing margins were calculated using the current and real prices of tomatoes. In the third phase, producer and consumer chain indexes are calculated based on current prices and compared with annual inflation rates. In the last phase of the study, the supply and demand models of tomatoes were estimated and interpreted statistically. From the comparisons and comments, it was concluded that the pepper producer real price, trend (time), cucumber producer real price, agricultural worker real price variables are effective for tomato supply and tomato consumer real price, national income, cucumber consumer real price and pepper consumer real price variables are effective for tomato demand. In addition, according to the supply and demand function of the tomato, supply elasticity was calculated as 0.041 and demand elasticity as 0.285. This supports the fact that consumers are more sensitive to tomato prices than producers.
