Özet

This descriptive study aims at determining the stance of nursing students studying at high school and university level on the profession. The study population consisted of the entire students of Gumushane Ibn-i Sina Vocational and Technical High School and the nursing department of Gumushane University, Health Collage. No sampling was attempted and the whole population was included in the sample. A personal information form and the “Career Choice in Nursing” scale were used to collect data. The data were analyzed using Frequencies, ChiSquare and t-tests, and Mann Whitney U, Anova and Kruskal Wallis tests. The mean age of the participants was 19.91±2.12 years, 66.1% of them were female, 62.8% wrote nursing in their first 5 choices and 77.1% wished to stay in the profession after their graduation. It was observed that being at different education levels did not matter in terms of stance on profession, but females, those with higher incomes, and those who wished to stay in the profession after graduation had more positive stances on the profession.
