Özdemir, Hicran; Tarsuslu, Sinan; Agaoglu, Ferhat Onur
Background: Climate change and related environmental issues are among the major global threats affecting health systems. While nurses’ eco-friendly behaviors are critical for reducing the environmental impact of health care services, the psychological mechanisms through which these behaviors influence carbon footprint awareness have not been sufficiently explained. Objective: The aim of this study is to examine the effect of nurses’ eco-friendly behaviors on carbon footprint awareness and to assess the mediating role of climate change anxiety in this relationship. Methods: The study was conducted using a cross-sectional and analytical design. The sample consisted of 386 nurses selected through convenience sampling based on voluntary participation from among nurses working in secondary and tertiary healthcare facilities in Turkey. Results: It was determined that environmentally friendly behavior significantly and positively predicted carbon footprint awareness (B = 0.542, p < 0.001) and climate change anxiety (B = 0.602, p < 0.001). In addition, climate change anxiety was found to have a significant positive effect on carbon footprint awareness (B = 0.458, p < 0.001). Bootstrap analysis showed that climate change anxiety played a significant partial mediating role in the effect of eco-friendly behavior on carbon footprint awareness (indirect effect = 0.176, 95% CI = 0.165–0.369). Conclusions: Nurses’ eco-friendly behaviors increase carbon footprint awareness both directly and through climate change anxiety. The findings highlight the importance of practices that support eco-friendly behaviors and educational programs that strengthen climate change awareness in the development of sustainable health services.

Baş, Murat; Aydın Kahraman, Handan; Tosun, Nurperihan
Purpose – This study aims to examine the effect of nurses’ organizational learning levels on perceived career opportunities, while exploring the parallel mediating roles of colleague support and psychological comfort perception. Design/methodology/approach – A cross-sectional survey design was employed with a sample of 462 nurses working in public hospitals in Nevsehir, Turkey. Data were collected using validated measurement scales and analyzed using SPSS, AMOS and PROCESS Macro (Model 4) for mediation analysis. Findings – The results revealed that organizational learning positively and significantly predicted perceived career opportunity. Colleague support and psychological comfort each served as significant mediators in this relationship. Specifically, organizational learning enhanced colleague support (ß = 0.623) and psychological comfort (ß = 0.282), both of which positively influenced perceived career opportunity (ß = 0.303 and β = 0.345, respectively). The parallel mediation analysis confirmed that both variables had significant indirect effects, with a total indirect effect of β = 0.272. These findings underscore the need for health organizations to foster learning-oriented cultures and psychologically supportive environments. Strengthening organizational learning and peer support mechanisms can improve nurses’ perceptions of career growth and enhance workforce retention. Originality/value – This study contributes to the literature by integrating organizational learning theory with social cognitive career theory, offering empirical evidence for the dual mediating roles of psychological comfort and colleague support in healthcare career development.

Tarsuslu, Sinan; Agaoglu, Ferhat Onur
This study examined how perceived injustice and victimization shape healthcare workers' cynical attitudes toward organizational barriers. A cross-sectional design was adopted in this study, and the serial mediation role of perceived injustice and victimization was examined. Based on a quantitative data collection method, this study is also a descriptive-relationship-seeking type. In order to fulfill the objectives of the study, scales with proven validity and reliability in the literature were used. The study sample consists of doctors, nurses, medical secretaries, auxiliary health personnel, and administrative staff working in a small-scale public hospital in the Eastern Anatolia Region of Turkey. A simple random sampling method was preferred in sample selection. When the research findings were evaluated, positive and significant relationships were found between the organizational barriers perceived by healthcare professionals and perceived injustice, victimization, and organizational cynicism behaviors. The results revealed that both perceived injustice and perceived victimization separately mediated the effect of perceived organizational barriers on organizational cynicism, and that these two variables also played a serial mediating role. Accordingly, it was demonstrated that feelings of injustice and victimization experienced in organizational processes increase healthcare workers’ organizational cynicism.

Background: Artificial intelligence can be an important tool in developing creative thinking while supporting individualized learning and problem-solving skills in educational processes. However, the effect of artificial intelligence on creative thinking may differ depending on factors such as students’ digital literacy level and the academic support they receive. In this context, how artificial intelligence can encourage creative thinking in educational processes and how this process is shaped by digital literacy and academic support stands out as an issue to be investigated. Purpose: This study artificial intelligence to determine the effect of artificial intelligence use on creative thinking skills in nursing students, the mediating role of digital literacy in this effect, and the situational mediating effect of academic support. Method: This cross-sectional and descriptive correlational study was conducted with 426 nursing students from three universities in different regions of Turkey during the fall semester of 2024–2025. Simple random sampling method was used. Data were collected through demographic information form and four valid and reliable scales. Result: Research findings show that using artificial intelligence substantially and significantly affects Creative Thinking (β = 0.70, p < 0.001). Digital literacy plays mediating role in this relationship, indirectly strengthening the effect of artificial intelligence use on creative thinking (β = 0.422, LLCI = 0.357, ULCI = 0.490). As a moderating factor of this relationship, the academic support creates a more limited effect at low levels of academic support (Effect = 0.224). At the same time, it maximizes this effect at high levels of support (Effect = 0.298). Conclusion: The effect of artificial intelligence use on Creative Thinking is significantly strengthened by the mediating role of digital literacy and the moderating role of academic support. These findings suggest that developing digital skills and strengthening academic support mechanisms are critical to integrating artificial intelligence technologies into educational processes. © The Author(s) 2025.; Artificial intelligence significantly increases the creative thinking tendencies of nursing students both directly and through digital literacy.
