Due to interruptions in the political regime, instability and occupations, Afghanistan has long been a country of migration to many countries. T & uuml;rkiye, in its role as a transit nation, has emerged as a significant destination for Afghan migrants. Women migrants face heightened challenges during the migratory process and are subject to various forms of oppression in the countries they migrate to. Intersectionality, a foundational concept in feminist theory, provides a crucial framework for analysing the interplay between migration and gender. In this study, which aims to analyse the urban life experiences of female migrants on the basis of gender and migration, the urban life experiences of Afghan women living in Erzincan were examined through qualitative research and in-depth interviews. The findings reveal that migration and adaptation processes of migrant women are made more difficult by intersecting dynamics such as gender, class belonging and migrant identity.

Feminist politics is in a constant state of motion within itself and has undergone significant argument changes in different periods. While the first wave feminism brought the demands for rights and equality to the fore, the second wave feminism expressed the need to put an end to the long-standing distinction between private and public spheres. Third-wave feminism, on the other hand, argued that women were not dominated in one way, but were exposed to different forms of domination, and discussed this discourse on the axis of the concept of intersectionality. In this study, the response of the second wave feminism to the public-private dichotomy of the private is political discourse on urban public spaces is discussed in the context of the intersectionality concept introduced by third wave feminism. The main argument of the study is that there are still many obstacles to the experience of women in the urban public sphere, however, women at the intersection of different domination and discrimination are more exposed to these obstacles and limitations. In this context, after the theoretical discussions on intersectionality and the dichotomy of private/public space in this study, the ways in which women, whose domination and exclusion intersect in many areas due to reasons such as class belonging, ethnicity, and belief, cannot be included in the urban public space are presented by discussing concrete examples.
