INVESTIGATION OF INTERGROUP COMMUNICATION PROCESSES IN TERMS OF GENERAL FORMATION, STRUCTURE AND FEATURES OF GROUPS

Özet

Groups have an important place in all organizations that extend and differentiate from business life to social life in general. Individuals can participate in these groups voluntarily or they are required to participate in these groups. Every individual who is a member of the group interacts with other group members. In this context, effective and efficient structuring of the intra-group communication network is extremely important. Although group formations are similar to each other, group structures show different characteristics. A continuous interaction occurs between individuals who share their motivational sources and common goals, and in the process of interaction, group structures consisting of hierarchical structure and determined roles emerge (Barlı, 2010:399). Groups have different characteristics in terms of purpose, number of members, obligation to join the group and life span. However, groups are classified into primary and secondary, formal and informal, membership and motivation, formal and informal groups. There are rules called 'norms' that the members of the group have to comply with within the group. Some of the norms are written and some are formal. All developed norms are known to the members of the group. Norms, which have a function that regulates groups, can be created in a short time or in a long time. For various reasons, the formation, structure and characteristics of the groups to which individuals are naturally or necessarily members differ in terms of groups. The reason for the formation of the group, its characteristics, classification, intra-group communication networks and the interaction of the members of the group with each other are important issues in creating a dynamic group structure. In this study, the formation of groups, group structure and communication will be examined by scanning domestic and foreign literature.
