Assistance Alimony in Turkish Civil Law in the Light of the Decisions of Court of Cassation

The Turkish Civil Code sets forth various types of alimony with different terms in order to conserve the family. The common ground of these alimonies is to safeguard economically the dependant members of the family. This safeguard is applicable not only during the marriage but also at the time of marital dissolution and it may be applied even in case of domestic violence prevention. Apart from the marriage, the Code also regulates each person's obligation of supporting his/her ascendants and descendants and siblings who will fall into poverty in case he/she has not given help.
