The Effect of Increasing Doses of Tolfenamic Acid on Biochemical Parameters in Goats

ArticleAçık Erişim

Özet

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of tolfenamic acid on biochemical parameters following administration of single increasing doses in goats. In the study were used 18 healthy goats (2  0.4 years old and 38  3 kg body weight). Tolfenamic acid 2, 4 and 8 mg/kg was administered intravenously (IV) in a single dose to goats. Blood samples were taken before and 72 hours after administration tolfenamic acid. Albumin, alkaline phosphatase (ALP), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), gamma glutamyltransferase (GGT), cholesterol, creatinine, triglyceride, total protein and urea levels were measured in an autoanalyzer from the serum obtained from blood samples. No difference was found in albumin, ALP, ALT, AST, GGT, cholesterol, creatinine, triglyceride, total protein and urea values in and between groups after IV administration of tolfenamic acid at doses of 2, 4 and 8 mg/kg to goats (P>0.05). As a result, it was determined that single dose IV administration of 2, 4 and 8 mg/kg of tolfenamic acid in goats did not cause a significant change in biochemical parameters. However, the safety of tolfenamic acid in goats needs to be determined at molecular and histopathological level
