Perception of Political Consent in terms of Voting Models
Özet
Understanding and directing voters’ voting behaviors to be in power in representative democracies, which is the most common form of government of our age, has been one of the fundamental political science subjects. While the “political consent” has an important place in the literature in terms of understanding voters’ behaviors, as far as we know, there is little research on the “political consent” in the literature. The relevant studies in the literature deal with “political consent” either in the theoretical perspective or in terms of power, and there is no application study to understand the voter’s consent in voting behavior. Consideringly, this study deals with the subject “Political Consent” in Turkey and aims to understand voters’ political consent in voting behaviors. In this relational survey design study, a political consent scale was applied to 1065 voters with different demographic characteristics living in Erzincan, and the data were analyzed with SPSS 22 statistical program. The findings showed that when the participants have a high level of perception levels in sociologic, psychologic, and ego-tropic voting behaviors, they tend to have a high political consent level. When they have a high level of perception in socio-tropic economic voting behavior, they show a high level of political consent. At the end of the study, some implications were provided for politicians and the researchers who would like to research political consent.
