- ArticleAçık Erişim2026Ranking of Foreign Trade Capital Companies in Türkiye Using Critic-Copras Methods
Baysal, Yusuf Volkan
Foreign trade is a key driver of economic growth, reducing external debt dependency, supporting industrial production, creating employment, and stabilizing the current account balance. In this framework, Foreign Trade Capital Companies (FTCCs) act as strategic intermediaries that facilitate SMEs’ access to global markets through financing, logistics, and promotion. Their corporate structures and international networks strengthen the competitiveness of Turkish products and ensure continuity of exports even during crises. The sustainability of FTCC activities is therefore essential not only for expanding trade volume but also for supporting long-term growth. This study evaluates the efficiency of FTCCs in Türkiye using the CRITIC-COPRAS method, which applies an objective weighting system and expresses the relative performance of firms in percentage terms. Seventeen financial ratios across liquidity, activity, financial structure, profitability, and market performance were analyzed for pre-pandemic (2017–2019) and pandemic (2020–2022) periods. The results show that the Leverage Ratio (debt to total assets) was the most influential criterion, while Net Profit to Equity was the least significant. İzmir Demir Çelik ranked highest before COVID-19, whereas Federal Mogul Türkiye led during the pandemic. Findings highlight the importance of leverage management for building resilience in crises and strengthening competitiveness.

Güney, tiler Sigeze; Kaya, Zeynep; Balli, Esra
This study investigates the socioeconomic determinants of poverty in Turkey by incorporating household charac teristics with regional indicators using 2024 data using a multilevel mixed effects model. Relative poverty, defined as 60% of the median equivalised household disposable income, serves as the dependent variable. Considering the hierarchical structure of the data, the determinants of poverty status were examined employing a two level generalised mixed effect logistic regression model, accounting for the nesting of households within NUTS 2 regions. The findings reveal that poverty cannot be explained solely by householdlevelvulnerabilities; the regional economic environment also significantly shapes poverty outcomes. Also, education is determined as the most security measure; having a university degree decreases poverty risk by 42.6%. Across regions, resources must be directed towards GDP growth and infrastructure to mitigate spatial disparities by integrating household level microdata with regional macro indicators. This study provides a comprehensive understanding of the spatial and key structural factors behind poverty in Turkey. Policymakers should prioritise opportunities to pursue higher education and vocational training at the household level.

Ulke Simdi, Refika; Gedik, Ozlem; Kara (Sivuk), Derya
PurposeThis study investigated the relationships among job satisfaction, emotional exhaustion, and turnover intention among nurses.Design/methodology/approachThe research was conducted with a sample of 356 nurses employed at a university hospital and examined the moderating roles of demographic variables, including age, marital status, experience at the hospital, and working time in the profession. The data collection tool was organized into two main sections. The first section focused on gathering socio-demographic information, including gender, age, marital status, experience at the hospital, and working time in the profession. The second section comprised validated scales used to measure the study variables. Data analysis was conducted using statistical software. Descriptive statistics were first employed to examine the demographic characteristics of the sample. To test the moderating effects of demographic variables on the relationship between emotional exhaustion and job satisfaction, the PROCESS Macro was utilized. For the moderation analysis, demographic variables such as age, marital status, hospital experience, and professional tenure were utilized. Other variables, including gender and educational status, were used solely for descriptive statistics.FindingsThe findings indicated that experience at the hospital moderated the relationship between job satisfaction and turnover intention, while age, marital status, and working time in the profession moderated the relationship between emotional exhaustion and job satisfaction. Given the critical importance of sustainable human resources in the healthcare sector, these results offer valuable insights for healthcare administrators and policymakers aiming to enhance nurse retention and improve workforce stability.Research limitations/implicationsGiven the critical importance of sustainable human resources in the healthcare sector, these results offer valuable insights for healthcare administrators and policymakers aiming to enhance nurse retention and improve workforce stability. The fact that the study was conducted at a single center in Turkey constitutes a limitation.Practical implicationsThis study offers guidance for healthcare institutions aiming to improve nurse retention. Emotional exhaustion reduces job satisfaction and increases turnover intention, especially among early- and mid-career nurses. Hospitals can reduce turnover through burnout-prevention strategies such as supportive supervision, mentorship, flexible scheduling, and improved staffing and reward systems. The identification of key demographic moderators (e.g. age, experience, marital status) enables institutions to tailor interventions - for example, career-development and coping-skills programs for younger nurses and work-family balance support for mid-career/married nurses.Social implicationsNurse burnout and turnover undermine the quality, safety, and accessibility of patient care. By underscoring the importance of supporting nurses' well-being, this study contributes to public discussions on strengthening healthcare systems. Reducing turnover can enhance patient outcomes, public trust, and system resilience-particularly important during public health crises.Originality/valueIn this study, a contribution to the literature was made by testing the validity of the Conservation of Resources Theory while determining the relationships among job satisfaction, burnout, and turnover intention. Furthermore, the study may provide guidance to healthcare administrators and policymakers in understanding the factors that contribute to workforce retention among nurses.

Canalan, Elif; Gökçearslan, Elif
Prison employees, much like the concepts of crime and punishment, are often predominantly associated with men. While the role of correctional officer has become a recognized career option for women, concerns remain about how well prisons accommodate women officers. This study explores the oppression factors experienced by 40 female correctional officers from 26 prisons in Turkey through in-depth interviews using a qualitative approach. The findings reveal significant social, organizational, gender-based, relational, and prison population-related oppressions. In addition to social stigmatization, lack of support, and the pressure to conform to masculine behaviors, female officers face hostility and resistance from inmates, colleagues, and supervisors; this is further reinforced by the hyper-masculine work environment and deeply entrenched patriarchal structures. The study emphasizes the urgent need for gender-sensitive policies and practices within the Turkish criminal justice system, advocating for a more inclusive and equitable work environment to help address entrenched inequalities.

Ciminli, Alaattin; Aydin, Burak
This study aimed to identify distinct latent profiles of career anxiety among young adults and to examine the predictors of membership in these profiles by relating them to various factors, including academic unit and year of study. The data were collected from a sample of 509 young adults enrolled at universities in Türkiye, comprising 409 females (80.4%) and 100 males (19.6%). The instruments used for data collection included a personal information form, Career Anxiety Scale, Hope Scale, Perceived Social Support Scale, Perfectionism Scale, and the Coping Self-Efficacy Scale. Latent profile analysis (LPA) was employed to identify latent profiles, while multinomial logistic regression (R3STEP) analysis was conducted to examine the relationships between latent profile membership and sociodemographic variables. The results of the LPA revealed three distinct latent profiles: high anxiety and vulnerable (Profile 1), low anxiety and high psychosocial strength (Profile 2), and moderate group (Profile 3). The findings indicated that when Profile 1 was used as the reference group, academic unit type and class level did not significantly predict membership in Profile 2. However, vocational school status significantly predicted membership in Profile 3. When Profile 2 was used as the reference group, it was observed that both vocational school students and fourth-year students were significantly less likely to be members of Profile 3.

Özkaya, Yağmur; Hakverdi̇, Gülden
This study examined the relationships among general self-efficacy, entrepreneurial intention, and career stress among pharmacy students and tested whether entrepreneurial intention mediated the relationship between general self-efficacy and career stress. The study was conducted with 282 students enrolled in the Faculty of Pharmacy at Erzincan Binali Yıldırım University. The data were analyzed using Pearson correlation analysis and Hayes' PROCESS macro (Model 4). The results showed that general self-efficacy was positively and significantly associated with entrepreneurial intention (r = .46, p < .001) and negatively and significantly associated with career stress (r = -.39, p < .001). Entrepreneurial intention was also negatively and significantly associated with career stress (r = -.41, p < .001). According to the mediation analysis, the total effect of general self-efficacy on career stress was significant and negative (B = -.3868, p < .001). When entrepreneurial intention was included in the model, the direct effect of general self-efficacy on career stress decreased but remained significant (B = -.2567, p = .001). In addition, the indirect effect of general self-efficacy on career stress through entrepreneurial intention was significant (B = -.1301, 95% bootstrap CI [-.2175, -.0664]). The findings suggest that entrepreneurial intention partially mediates the relationship between general self-efficacy and career stress. In this context, students with higher levels of general self-efficacy appear to have stronger entrepreneurial intentions, which may, in turn, be associated with lower levels of career stress.
RDL Kalıcı Kaydıİncele - ArticleYalnız künye2026The serial mediation of job stress and work-family conflict in the relationship between compulsory citizenship behaviour and citizenship fatigue among healthcare workers
Özen, Şener; Yücel, İlhami
Purpose – This study aims to examine the sequential mediating roles of job stress (WS) and work-family conflict (WFC) in the relationship between compulsory citizenship behaviour (CCB) and citizenship fatigue (CF) among healthcare workers in Turkish public hospitals, grounded in Conservation of Resources (COR) theory and the job demands-resources (JD-R) model. Design/methodology/approach – A cross-sectional design was employed with 483 healthcare workers (67.7% female), including nurses, physicians, and administrative staff. Validated Turkish scales measured CCB, CF, WS and WFC. Data were analysed using correlation analysis, structural equation modelling (SEM) and Hayes' PROCESS macro (Model 6, 5, 000 bootstrap samples). Findings – CCB was positively associated with CF (β = 0.43, p < 0.001). Job stress and WFC sequentially mediated this relationship (total indirect effect β = 0.18, SE = 0.03, LLCI = 0.13 and ULCI = 0.25 95%). Results align with COR theory, demonstrating that CCB depletes resources, escalating stress and WFC, ultimately leading to CF. Originality/value – This study advances the literature by empirically testing a novel serial mediation model in healthcare, highlighting how CCB's effects extend beyond the workplace into family life. It underscores the need for organisational interventions to mitigate compulsory demands and support work-life balance.
RDL Kalıcı Kaydıİncele - ArticleAçık Erişim2026Physical education and sports teachers’ health and well-being: workload, psychological resilience and social support perspective
Seçer, Emrah
Introductıon and aim: The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between physical education and sports teachers' perceptions of workload and their psychological well-being, and to evaluate the roles of psychological resilience and perceived social support in this relationship. Method: The study employed a correlational survey design, and 276 physical education and sports teachers from public schools in Turkey participated. Data collection tools included the Teacher Workload Scale (TWP), the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), the Psychological Well-being Scale (PWB), and the Perceived Social Support Scale (PSS). The validity of the measurement models was tested using confirmatory factor analysis, and the hypotheses were evaluated using Hayes' Process Macro (Models 1, 4, and 7) and SPSS 25. Results: Under the first hypothesis, the indirect effect of workload on psychological well-being via psychological resilience was significant (b = −0.234, 95% CI [−0.327, −0.142]), explaining approximately 57% of the total variance. In the second hypothesis, perceived social support was found to moderate the relationship between workload and psychological resilience. At high levels of social support, the negative effect of workload on psychological resilience weakened (b = −0.079, 95% CI [−0.184, 0.025]). Within the scope of the third hypothesis, moderates mediation analysis showed that social support significantly mediated the indirect effect of workload on psychological well-being through psychological resilience (b = 0.004, 95% CI [0.001, 0.008]). While negative effects were evident at low levels of social support, they decreased significantly at high levels. Conclusion: The study reveals that the negative effect of teacher workload on psychological well-being operates through psychological resilience, and that perceived social support can mitigate these effects by moderating this process. The findings show that teachers' psychological resilience and social support resources play a critical role in mitigating the negative effects of workload. Educational policies and practices can be designed within the framework of workload management, strengthening social support mechanisms, and resilience-building programs.

Kuziboev, Bekhzod; Radulescu, Magdalena; Çatık, A. Nazif; Makhmudov, Samariddin; Balli, Esra; Allayarov, Sardor
Currently economic turbulence and geopolitical fluctuations are causing high prices and supply disruptions in energy markets. As a result, energy consumption risks are becoming more severe. Diversifying energy sources is one way to address these challenges. This study examines how energy source diversification influences energy consumption risk in 36 developed countries from 2000 to 2018, using Method of Moments Quantile Regression (MMQR) and Panel Threshold Regression (PTR) Models. The MMQR captures heterogeneous effects across various levels of energy consumption risk, offering insights into how diversification strategies differ in effectiveness across the risk distribution. The PTR Model identifies potential nonlinear relationships and regime-dependent effects based on economic development levels, enabling an analysis of how the diversification-risk relationship changes across different stages of economic advancement. These methods are well-suited for the non-normal distribution of variables and the potential structural breaks in the relationship between energy diversification and consumption risk. The findings align with theory, revealing that the effects of energy source diversification on energy consumption risk are negative across all quantiles, from 10 % to 90 %. Furthermore, PTR results reveal that energy source diversification reduces energy consumption risk in both the lower and upper regimes of economic development. The study's results provide valuable guidelines for policymakers.

Helmi, Mohamad Husam; Balli, Esra; Çatik, Abdurrahman Nazif; Kuziboev, Bekhzod; Ruzmetova, Maxbuba; Makhmudov, Samariddin
This study examines the impact of financial development on energy infrastructure needs in a sample of 85 countries over the period 2000–2023. The analysis combines linear panel estimators with advanced nonlinear methods, including Method of Moments Quantile Regression (MMQR), the Instrumental-Variable Partially Linear Functional-Coefficient model (IVPLFC), and the dose–response function. These methods allow us to examine heterogeneity, dynamic persistence, and nonlinear marginal effects. A key contribution of the study is the use of the Energy Infrastructure Needs index, which captures deficiencies across electricity generation, transmission, distribution, and storage, rather than relying on narrower traditional proxies. The results show that stronger financial development significantly reduces energy infrastructure needs. This effect is strongest at earlier stages of financial development, while diminishing marginal effects emerge as financial systems mature. The MMQR results reveal distributional differences across levels of energy infrastructure needs, while the IVPLFC and dose–response results confirm clear nonlinear effects. Overall, the findings show that financial development plays an important but uneven role in reducing energy infrastructure needs. Financially underdeveloped economies benefit most from expanding access to credit, strengthening banking intermediation, and improving liquidity, whereas more financially developed economies require complementary institutional and regulatory reforms to achieve further progress.

Purpose – This study aims to examine the effect of nurses’ organizational learning levels on perceived career opportunities, while exploring the parallel mediating roles of colleague support and psychological comfort perception. Design/methodology/approach – A cross-sectional survey design was employed with a sample of 462 nurses working in public hospitals in Nevsehir, Turkey. Data were collected using validated measurement scales and analyzed using SPSS, AMOS and PROCESS Macro (Model 4) for mediation analysis. Findings – The results revealed that organizational learning positively and significantly predicted perceived career opportunity. Colleague support and psychological comfort each served as significant mediators in this relationship. Specifically, organizational learning enhanced colleague support (ß = 0.623) and psychological comfort (ß = 0.282), both of which positively influenced perceived career opportunity (ß = 0.303 and β = 0.345, respectively). The parallel mediation analysis confirmed that both variables had significant indirect effects, with a total indirect effect of β = 0.272. These findings underscore the need for health organizations to foster learning-oriented cultures and psychologically supportive environments. Strengthening organizational learning and peer support mechanisms can improve nurses’ perceptions of career growth and enhance workforce retention. Originality/value – This study contributes to the literature by integrating organizational learning theory with social cognitive career theory, offering empirical evidence for the dual mediating roles of psychological comfort and colleague support in healthcare career development.
